My ongoing pet project, Disney Princess trading cards in an art noveau, slightly more historically accurate style. I started the series digitally coloring inked drawings back in the mid-2000s, but felt that painting would lend a princess outfit more justice and redid everyone. For the most part, I stuck to the colors and shapes of their most recognizable movie outfit (excepting Ariel), and added as many details as could be found on official Disney licensed artwork and primary costuming resources of the historical era most influencing the character design. For example, Snow White had more 17th century German lace, for Jasmine I added the overcoat and embellishment of Persian empire court attire, but for Mulan and Tiana I stayed with their princess gowns instead of more historically correct ancient Chinese robes and 1920s female fashions. Now I just have the more difficult princesses, such as Pocahontas, and then the 3-d princesses, Merida and Elsa/Anna, as well as a host of female leads not in the original lineup, including Kida, Eilowny, the anthropomorphic movies…
